Independent Contractor / Brokerage Membership Structure

Because many professionals, including REALTORS®, insurance agents, financial professionals, and other service providers, operate as independent contractors rather than employees of a company or brokerage, a business or brokerage’s Chamber membership does not automatically extend to every independent contractor affiliated with that organization.

Individual / Per-Professional Model — Current Structure

The Rule:
Each independent contractor who wishes to receive individual Chamber membership benefits must purchase their own Chamber membership.

Why:
Independent contractors operate as their own businesses, even when they are affiliated with a brokerage, firm, or other organization. While the brokerage’s Chamber membership covers the business itself and its eligible employees, it does not automatically cover individuals who operate as independent contractors.

Important:
This is the current membership structure used by the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce. At this time, the Chamber does not offer a corporate, brokerage, or firm-wide membership that automatically includes independent contractors affiliated with that organization.

Therefore, independent contractors who wish to become Chamber members must join individually, regardless of whether they are affiliated with a Chamber-member brokerage, company, or firm.
